American Trucking Associations is the largest national trade association for the trucking industry. Through a federation of 50 affiliated state trucking associations and industry-related conferences and councils, ATA is the voice of the industry America depends on most to move our nation's freight. In 2020, ATA established the ATA Moving & Storage Conference, the leading national organization representing household goods moving companies and industry suppliers, as well as various state moving and storage associations. The Conference serves as the leading educator and partner to moving and storage consumers worldwide. The Conference works tirelessly to improve public safety and trust in the relocation market through various avenues, including the development of best practices, rigorous consumer education programs and advocacy efforts on Capitol Hill. For more information email: moving@trucking.org.
The American Moving & Storage Association dissolved in 2020. Many of their members have now joined the American Trucking Associations Moving & Storage Conference. ATA is in the process of developing a number of programs, including a ProMover program and training and certification programs. While ATA works to develop these programs, many of our members will continue to display AMSA certifications that they earned as AMSA members and their corresponding logos. ATA members may also promote the many awards they were honored to receive during their membership with AMSA. ATA is proud of those members and look forward to working with our members on similar programs.
AMSA provided the ProMover certification to moving companies only after they had passed a thorough background check, including their operations and previous work. Moving companies agreed to abide by AMSA’s Code of Ethics and a set of honorable business practices. ProMovers participated in an annual review to ensure that they continued to meet the program requirements. ATA is in the process of developing a ProMover Certification, so many of our members will continue to use the AMSA certification until the ATA program is complete. ATA is proud of these members for their dedication to the household goods industry.
Move for Hunger is our official charity partner. Move for Hunger is a non-profit organization that mobilizes the relocation industry to fight hunger and reduce food waste. They work with companies across North America to collect unwanted, unopened food from people who are relocating and deliver it to local food banks. To date, their network has collected more than 6,000,000 pounds of food — more than 5,000,000 meals! Learn how to get involved with Move for Hunger during your move.
