Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs)

April 1, 2018, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) began enforcing out-of-service violations of Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) out-of-service criteria.

Less than 1% (4,720) of all driver inspections (559, 940) have resulted in the driver being cited for operating without a required Electronic Logging Device (ELD) or grandfathered Automatic On-Board Recording Device (AOBRD).

To provide comments on your experience implementing ELDs, use the form at the bottom of this page or contact AMSA’s Director of Government Affairs, Katie McMichael at (703) 706-4971.
