March 18, 2019
ALEXANDRIA, VA — The American Moving & Storage Association proudly announces the winner of the Young Professional Model of Excellence Award for 2018: Rachael Fischer Lyons, director of marketing and business development for Olympia Moving & Storage based in Watertown, Mass.
The Young Professional Model of Excellence Award celebrates the most accomplished and innovative young businessmen and women who have been making headlines in their field and who share a commitment to business growth, professional excellence, the moving and storage industry and the community. After graduation and a brief stint at a marketing research agency, Olympia’s CEO Michael Gilmartin and President Piet Gauchat invited Lyons to join the company.
Lyons uses technology, quantitative analysis and best practices to help Olympia drive opportunity through digital marketing. She also helps mentor Olympia’s sales and business development teams. During her tenure with the company, she is most proud of helping to found Olympia’s engagement with, and sponsorship of, the Special Olympics. On an annual basis, Olympia donates more than $60,000 in logistics services to help athletes with intellectual disabilities.
With Lyons’ contributions, Olympia has more than quadrupled in size since 2010, and now features locations in Boston, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, and Austin. The company has been recognized with numerous service awards. Lyons also serves as the membership officer of the American Moving & Storage Association’s 40Below Young Professionals Group and will serve as vice chair of the Communications Advisory Committee.
“I have many bright, motivated peers in this industry, and I am very honored to be recognized by the American Moving & Storage Association with this award. The people I have met through the association have been so welcoming and given me an opportunity to learn and contribute,” said Lyons. “My colleagues, the crew and our drivers make my job easy because they are committed to getting it right and delivering an incredible experience for Olympia’s customers every day. I love my job because I believe in Olympia Moving, and where we are going as a team.”
“Rachael is an integral part of the team. Her contributions are at both a tactical and strategic level, and she has played an important role in Olympia’s growth over the past 10 years,” said Olympia President Piet Gauchat. “There is, in my opinion, nobody in the industry more deserving of this award and we are all really proud of what Rachael has been able to accomplish. Not only is she a great reflection upon the company, but her values and integrity are unassailable.”
“Congratulations to Rachael Fischer Lyons for earning this prestigious award for young professionals. She has demonstrated strong leadership, an innovative spirit and personal support for the community,” said Scott Michael, president and CEO of the American Moving & Storage Association. “The moving and storage industry values the wonderful contributions made by young leaders like Rachael, who are innovating and striving to ensure the industry remains on the road to success.”
