Humboldt Storage & Moving Wins Top Agent Honors from AMSA
March 20, 2019
ALEXANDRIA, VA — Humboldt Storage & Moving, the oldest moving company in the Greater Boston area and an agent for United Van Lines, has won the highly-coveted 2018 Moving & Storage Agent of the Year Service Excellence Award from the American Moving & Storage Association. Humboldt Storage & Moving was selected for the award by a panel of experts out of approximately 2,000 eligible companies across the country.
The Agent of the Year Award reflects AMSA’s and the industry’s commitment to excellent customer service, and is presented to an agent nominated by their affiliated van line based on customer surveys and van line experience. Nominations are judged primarily on customer service assessments and other industry awards and recognitions. Consideration is also given to factors such as leadership, innovation, community involvement, and activities that enhance the industry’s image.
In the past 10 years, Humboldt has set out to change the image of moving. With a brand of “Relax and Get Moving,” Humboldt and its employees have worked hard to make a stressful time, the moving experience, much more manageable and less worrisome for customers. The goal of putting every customer at ease is embedded in the culture and every team member understands their role. From the way in which all team members interact with customers, to online video surveys, virtual document signing, educational videos and other resources, Humboldt has worked in all areas to make moving less stressful.
The company has also fostered a culture of relaxation by developing a kids’ program where they involve the children of customers in the move and a monthly Stress Removers Award to a Humboldt team member, as well as producing videos aimed at assisting those on the autism spectrum to be more at ease through a relocation.
In the community, Humboldt has raised significant funds for charity, including partnering with the March of Dimes and March for Babies, and holding an annual truck pull to benefit the Special Olympics. That event alone has raised well over $100,000 in the past six years.
“Our entire team understands our culture of relax and get moving, and they also appreciate the fact that we have to try and get every move right,” says Jim Sullivan, president of Humboldt Storage and Moving. “Helping people through difficult times drives our team to be better every day. Being recognized for our efforts with an award of this significance motivates our team even more to live up to our brand.”
“Congratulations to Humboldt Storage & Moving for earning this high honor in recognition of their ongoing history of innovation, excellent customer service and support for the local community,” said Scott Michael, president and CEO of the American Moving & Storage Association. “Humboldt has shown an outstanding commitment to achieving high levels of service for their customers, along with a strong commitment to charitable causes in the communities they serve. All of us in the industry salute them for their success and accomplishments.”
