American Moving & Storage Association Applauds Senate Passage of Highway Funding Bill
July 30, 2015
Alexandria, VA – The American Moving & Storage Association represents national van lines, independent movers and industry suppliers, and serves as the home of the ProMover certification program. Scott Michael, president and CEO, comments on today’s passage of the DRIVE Act—Developing a Reliable and Innovative Vision for the Economy—by the U.S. Senate.
“The American Moving & Storage Association commends the Senate for passing a long-term spending bill that would fund badly-needed investments in our nation’s highways and bridges. We support their efforts at providing infrastructure funding for many years to come.
We also appreciate that Congress will keep highway spending going another three months past this Friday’s deadline as both chambers work toward a long-term agreement. We strongly urge Congress to pass a long-term spending bill when they return from their August recess.
Our members operate a fleet of more than 100,000 trucks, vans and other vehicles across the country. Their workplace is our nation’s roads, and they and their customers ought to have a safe, modern transportation system.”
The American Moving & Storage Association, home of the ProMover certification program, is the national trade association representing the nation’s moving and storage companies, which provide household goods moving services, specialized transportation for sensitive freight such as computers and trade show exhibits, and warehouse storage services. AMSA has approximately 4,000 members, including domestic and international companies and industry suppliers, and supports programs and activities that promote consumer protection, professional development, safety, and operational efficiency.
